How to successfully transition your hair???
At L'Art des Boucles, we know from experience that it's essential to take care of our curly hair with quality natural products. This article provides our advice to help you define a healthy routine tailored to your hair to enhance your curls. ♥
Where to start ?
Getting beautiful curls back when your hair is damaged won't happen overnight. It's very rare to get the desired results from your first natural routine. Going natural (called hair transition) is a matter of patience. Indeed, the majority of hair products for textured hair sold in supermarkets or at the hairdresser's contain ingredients that are harmful to our hair. Add to that repeated straightening, blow-drying, chemical coloring, and bleaching, and the result: you get damaged, very dry, malnourished hair... Hair transition is only one step. It requires effort, but the results are well worth it.
With the right natural care, the right accessories and simple actions, you will gradually see improvements: bouncier, shinier and softer curls as well as stronger, healthier hair.
To start a good hair transition:
Stop the aggression
The hair transition begins with stopping chemical coloring, bleaching, daily straightening, relaxing, treatments with sulfates and silicones (and other chemical products). All of these processes transform the nature of the hair from the inside out and weaken it.
Purify
Clarification is necessary to remove all residues like pollution and accumulated chemicals. Your scalp and lengths need to start from scratch! That's why you need to detoxify them with a scrub or a clay mask to remove what's suffocating the hair fiber. Preferably, choose a gentle detox treatment to avoid drying out your hair and start fresh.
Cut !!
Gradually trim damaged hair. Natural hair care products can improve hair condition, but they're not always enough when the damage is too severe. The only solution is to trim the damaged areas to ensure healthy hair.
Experiment
Knowing your curls' needs is essential to finding the right natural hair care product. Shampoo should keep your scalp healthy: no itching, no dandruff...
Pay close attention to the effect of different styling products: are your curls well hydrated, well-formed, supple but well-set? For example, a cream that's too rich risks weighing down your curls, producing a greasy and sticky effect, while a cream that's too light will leave your curls lacking in hydration and definition.
By knowing the needs of your scalp and your lengths, you will be able to provide everything your hair needs for healthy, shiny hair and beautiful curls!
